Cracticus tibicen
This composite picture shows the two main races of the Australian Magpie:
leuconota is the white-backed race (on the left) which is found from the lower south east to the central ranges. This particular bird was photographed at Portland, Victoria.
tibicen is the black-backed race which ranges over most of eastern and northern Australia. This bird was photographed at Brisbane, Queensland.
